StreamLadder vs Eklipse: Twitch import and vertical layouts
StreamLadder vs Eklipse for Twitch and Kick streamers: prices, free-plan watermarks, VOD limits, facecam layouts and a decision table, as of 8 Nov 2026.
StreamLadder vs Eklipse comes down to who makes the first cut. Pick Eklipse if you want a gaming-first tool to find highlights for you and you will pay for Premium (its August 2026 help says export requires it). Pick StreamLadder if you want direct control of a facecam and gameplay layout, or a free editor whose basic exports stay clean. Both document Twitch and Kick, and neither tool’s highlight picks or layout quality have been measured here.

Documented differences at a glance
As of 8 November 2026, from each vendor’s own pages. “Not stated” means the pages we read do not say. StreamLadder’s plan details come from its upgrade page as rendered in a browser; a plain fetch of that page returns only a title, so re-check them there.

StreamLadder or Eklipse: a decision table
Match your situation to a row, then do the listed check on one real stream before paying.
| Your situation | Lean towards | Why | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| You play FPS or battle royale and want highlights found for you | Eklipse | Its game-event detection is the documented difference | Your game is listed, and your overlays leave the killfeed clear |
| You already clip on Twitch or Kick and want vertical edits | StreamLadder | The free editor imports clips directly and basic exports are clean | A default layout fits your overlay |
| Your facecam is in an unusual spot, or you are a VTuber | StreamLadder | Layers can be placed by hand, and ClipGPT claims V-Tuber support | Your layout saves and reapplies correctly |
| You regularly stream longer than 6 hours | StreamLadder, unconfirmed | Eklipse states a 6-hour limit; StreamLadder states none | Whether ClipGPT accepts your longest VOD during the trial |
| You stream from console | Eklipse | It documents Xbox and PS5 streams going live on Twitch or YouTube | Your channel connects |
| You want the lowest yearly cost with AI clipping | Eklipse | About $180 a year against $270, if the regional price holds | The price shown to you at checkout |
| You need $0 and no watermark | StreamLadder | Eklipse’s older help says free exports are watermarked and its August 2026 help says export needs Premium | You can live without captions |
| An editor needs access to your account | StreamLadder Pro | Workspaces with per-editor permissions are listed | $39 is justified for that feature |
Mostly Just Chatting or IRL? Neither has a documented edge. StreamLadder describes chat and reaction moments, and Eklipse says it also clips IRL and Just Chatting streams, so run one stream through each.
What each tool cannot do
Every limit here is one the vendor documents, or a feature it lists as not yet available.
StreamLadder:
- ClipGPT is not on Starter; AI clipping starts at $27 a month.
- The free plan has no captions, custom layouts or scheduling without a watermark or an upgrade.
- Its homepage makes no game-event detection claim.
- Pro’s two Auto Pilot features are marked as coming soon.
Eklipse:
- Its older help says free exports carry a watermark and stop at 720p; its August 2026 help says exporting requires Premium.
- Processing is limited to 6 hours per Twitch or Kick stream, and Eklipse suggests restarting your stream every 4 to 6 hours.
- AI Edit only runs on clips between 15 seconds and 3 minutes.
- AI Edit limits: free users wait through a cooldown after each export, and Premium allows up to 3 AI Edit clips every 5 minutes.
- Finished clips expire after 14 or 90 days.
- What the free plan actually delivers is unclear, and its pages differ by date. Its menu lists highlights under free features and its August 2025 help says core clipping stays free, while its August 2026 help and its StreamLadder comparison (“Free to sign up (paid to clip)”) point to paying before you export.
Import, detection and layout
The two tools take different routes to the same vertical clip. Eklipse connects to your channel and works from any previous publicly available VOD, or processes live, using the signals above. Its homepage FAQ says more than 3,000 games, while its comparison hub still says 1,000+ titles, so treat the number as marketing either way. StreamLadder has you paste a link or upload a file, then ranks results with a Virality Score, which is the vendor’s prediction rather than a measured outcome.
For gaming footage, Eklipse’s stream layout advice is worth reading whichever tool you pick. It says to set the correct game category before going live, keep large overlays and webcam frames off the kill feed, mini-map and notifications, use default in-game UI placement, and balance mic and game audio. Reasoning from that: if you run a custom HUD or a large webcam over those areas, expect to check its picks more closely.
On layout, StreamLadder’s custom layouts page lists stacked, side-by-side, picture-in-picture and full-screen presets, drag-and-resize positioning, independent cropping of each layer and layouts saved to your account. Its pricing table puts custom layouts at Starter and above; ClipGPT claims to detect and frame the facecam automatically.
Eklipse’s mobile AI Edit guide lists Full Screen, Bottom Split and Blurred layouts. Its help concedes the tool can get this wrong: if your face or the action is cropped, it says the AI “likely misdetected the focus area”, and you fix it with Adjust Layout and Confirm Layout. Its homepage claims AI Edit keeps crosshairs, killfeeds and facecams in frame; we have no measurement of that.
Use the checklist in our facecam and gameplay vertical layout workflow on one of your own clips. The facecam and gameplay layout guide explains what to check.
Cost for a typical month
Eklipse is slightly cheaper monthly and clearly cheaper yearly, on the prices each vendor shows. Inputs: 13 streams a month (3 a week). Arithmetic as of 8 November 2026.
| Measure | StreamLadder Creator | Eklipse Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing | $27.00 | From $24.99 |
| Per stream, monthly billing | $2.08 | $1.92 |
| Yearly billing, total | $270 | About $180 ($14.99 x 12) |
| Per stream, yearly billing | $1.73 | About $1.15 |
Eklipse’s yearly figure is $179.99 on web per its help article, which lists different mobile prices; its StreamLadder comparison says pricing is detected by region and tells you to reconfirm at checkout. Its FAQ gives no numeric clip allowance for the plan, while StreamLadder lists unlimited ClipGPT, so the two prices may not buy the same volume. See StreamLadder pricing for the break-even and plan-by-plan maths.
The refund terms favour StreamLadder for a cautious first purchase. Its policy offers 48 hours on monthly payments and 14 days on yearly ones if you have not used the service since paying. Eklipse’s policy says refunds are generally not provided, including for unused days.
Using both, or switching
Nothing in either vendor’s documents prevents you from connecting the same channel to both, so a short overlap is the sensible way to compare them. Use Eklipse’s picks to see which moments it surfaces, then cut your preferred ones in StreamLadder’s editor. Because Eklipse’s older help says free exports carry a watermark, bring in the original Twitch or Kick clip rather than the Eklipse export.
Before switching:
- Download what you want to keep from Eklipse. Clips expire after 14 or 90 days. StreamLadder’s own page says clips are not stored in Eklipse, but Eklipse’s FAQ describes storage, so go by Eklipse here.
- Check your source VODs. Twitch keeps past broadcasts for 7, 14 or 60 days depending on your account, so older streams may already be unavailable to either tool.
- Cancel before renewal. Eklipse says to cancel under Membership, then Premium Plan on the web, or through your app store on mobile.
- Rebuild layouts. Neither vendor documents transferring templates between the two.
Why we do not use their head-to-head pages
Both vendors publish a comparison against the other, and each is wrong or out of date about its rival. StreamLadder’s page says Eklipse needs a separate tool to schedule posts, while Eklipse documents its own Content Planner. Eklipse’s page, marked verified in July 2026, describes StreamLadder’s Silver and Gold plans, while StreamLadder’s upgrade page as rendered in a browser lists Free, Starter, Creator and Pro. So each vendor is used here only for facts about itself.
What would settle this is facecam detection, layout accuracy and acceptance rate on the same VOD. Those are in our methodology and are not yet measured.
For the individual write-ups see the StreamLadder review, Eklipse review, StreamLadder alternatives, Eklipse alternatives and the comparison hub.

Not tested yet
What a real test of this would need. None of it has been run.
